On the other hand, this pup takes
long rests when she isn't tearing around and she's easy to tone down when
she gets too wild. Space hasn't been a problem sofar. We take her to the
barn every day, but she is on a leash all the time for now. I think as long
as there is lots of stimulation the wildness might not be such an issue.

Re: C-c-c-c-changes

Congratulations on your retirement.

We just commented yesterday how cute Westies are, but my impression was that they are super energetic and require lots of room to run. is that true? We're not looking... just curious.

Re: Does Computer Use Destroy Reading Ability?

P.S I'm just thirteen and I just saw "life around sixty" but imusics worked for me in terms of school reading. so far it's also helped with answering questions alot faster. but I also want to mention when I had this reading issue, I started reading on the subway, on the bus, anywhere I could. I still haven't fully come back to reading like I use too, but imusic and dedication does help alot.

Re: Does Computer Use Destroy Reading Ability?

it's amazing how this post reflected my own life, thanks for it. solution: IMUSIC (music with an i before the word music.) it's music that helps....well, visit the website to see what I mean. good luck.

Re: Does Computer Use Destroy Reading Ability?

Nope, I'm still a reader. At night in bed--can't go to sleep without a book. Magazines--I'm a junky. Newspapers--just started getting the NYTimes weekend papers besides the Sacramento Bee. And then there's all the stuff I read on-line. Maybe you're just in an period of your life when you're feeling antsy. Maybe there's more stuff going on in your life that's interesting. Maybe what you're reading doesn't 'grab' you (even though you think it should).

Re: Does Computer Use Destroy Reading Ability?

Yeah, I hate it, but I have turned into a skimmer. The last time I REALLY read was on an airplane and that was because I forgot to take the portable dvd player. I still get a few magazines, but they are not heavy reading and only encourage skimming.

However, because of access to some much more info via the web, I think have a greater breadth of knowledge. At my (our) age I think that is more important than depth.

Good post.

Re: Fire-and-forget Websites

Hi Mark,
Backlinks are certainly the key. Like I said, the system I'm following right
now is to use article marketing for link-building. Once I get up to speed, I
intend to use the stuff I learned in the thirty-day challenge about building
a network of web 2.0 sites to get backlinks that are worth a lot. I have
around 20 of those sites just loafing around drawing welfare right now.
Might as well put'em to work.

Re: Fire-and-forget Websites

I agree that niche blog are wha's happenin' We inheirited a koi pond when we bought our house, but gave them away because I didn't know anything about them. Grapes? seems nichey enough: but how about growing grapes in your region?
Getting search engines requires lots of inbound links, those are tougher and tougher to get!
I think it can be done... it just takes perseverance.
Good luck!
DogsWithCones.com
BBQandBourbon.com
AsianWomenHoldingThings.com

:)

Re: http://lifearound60.com/blog/?p=139

Glad you found your man, Dana. A good partner makes all the difference.

It is possible to make money blogging, but its too much work and takes too long for most people. After a horrible divorce (that I did on the "chance" that I deserved SOMETHING else, not sure WHAT) I met and married THE man I'd always NEEDED. That was a welcomed change in MY life.

Now, I blog and wonder why. So I figured I'd MAKE SOME MONEY WHILE DOING IT. lol

Not to be. Oh, if you have hundreds of readers a day, maybe. DOOCE.COM has thousands of daily readers. (why? nothing there of any interest to ME) but she makes around $80,000 per month and was featured on 20/20 and DATELINE.

ME? I make about $80 a month and am happy for THAT much.

I enjoy reading a blog done by a thinker instead of a stinker. Thank you.

Re: Photo-share

Thanks Marc.

Re: Photo-share

Beautiful!

Re: My Spacecraft is Suffering Mechanical Difficulties

I know what the doc means about your knee. I have twinges and a limp. That's about the only chronic problem I have that isn't "under control" (I also have sleep apnea)

I also have a skin cancer that I have put off removing for a couple years, but will probably get that done just to keep the peace.

So I am of the mind that if you can stand it, and if it's not getting worse, how will a doc help?

One caveat: the two things you describe: cramps and other aches and pains could be symptoms of something else.

Just sayin'

Re: Obama did Win - Happy Days

You probably won't publish it but I have to say I can't agree with you that him winning the election is a good thing. There are many more issues at stake than just the economy and you are right he is no Moses although I think he believes that he is. But I really fear that the country is in much worse hands than it has ever been. I really hope I am wrong but don't believe I am. He is not "the one" that we needed in the White House running our country. His background and his ideas really scare the life out of me.

Re: Must-Read Alert

No one denies the military is expensive, but not as much so as our income transfer social programs. I'd like to eliminate the Department of Education, for starters, then get to work on the USDA food subsidies which include free lunches in the summer and mortgages.

We waste billions and trillions through these programs' salaries, and just a smidgen gets to the poeple who need it.

Normas last blog post..

Re: Thoughts at Sixty-one

Happy Birthday, belatedly!

I hear you about the stock market - as they say, "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose."
